HP Notebook - 17-by0061cl

HP 17 - by0061cl. on boot-up get message stating that time/date is wrong. Looked for CMOS battery on motherboard but cannot find. How to fix this?

Hi:

 

Your notebook does not have a CMOS/RTC battery.

 

The internal main battery is supposed to perform the functions of the CMOS battery.

 

Below is the link to the service manual.

 

HP 17 Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide

 

Chapter 3 has the list of parts. 

 

There is no CMOS/RTC battery part listed.

 

Chapter 6 has the component removal and replacement procedures. 

 

There is no procedure to remove or replace a CMOS/RTC battery.

OK thank you but the main battery was replaced and we still get the message and time is still incorrect whenever laptop is rebooted.

You're very welcome. 

 

If you are having that problem before and after you replaced the battery, most likely there is a problem with the motherboard. 

 

The only suggestion I can offer would be to set the BIOS to its default settings and see if that resolves the problem.
