HP ProBook 470 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello! I have installed an SSD (WD Green M.2 2280 240 GB) into my HP ProBook 470 G3, successfully cloned the OS hard drive (119 GB) to SSD by using Acronis True Image WD Edition, and selected SSD as the first boot disk (both UEFI and Legacy) in BIOS. And it DOES boot the Windows 10 from SSD (shows the Windows 10 logo and loading sign), but after it there is a blank screen with mouse cursor showing that something is supposedly going on, but it stays like that forever.

It can still boot normally from HDD when I restore it to the first position in the boot order. Is there any solution other than a clean Windows install on the SSD? I wanted to avoid that to save a lot of time that reinstalling all the programs would take. What should I do? Thank you!

Here you can see in the video how that ongoing blank screen (AFTER Win 10 logo appears) looks like: https://imgur.com/a/pbbp7Cy

Here is also a screenshot from Event Viewer (don't know if that WiFi related stuff is relevant): https://imgur.com/a/ji7GjDg

Hello @Matheos86

Thank you for posting.

I checked your description and watched the videos . It looks like this is an issue with the OS clone, not the PC itself.

Something hasn't been cloned/imaged successfully or completely.

Try cloning again or reinstall Windows fully (clean installation).

Some clean installation tips/instructions should you decide to go this route >> https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Recovery-disks-not-working-on-l...

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

Hi IT_WinSec,

I tried cloning again several times, but it didn't work. In the end, I simply clean-installed Windows on SSD. Have a lot of programs to install now, but at least it works and is fast. Thanks for help anyway!

Best regards,
Matheos
