I have a HP Spectre x360 and I keep getting the message "TPM is ready for use with reduced functionality. Information flags: 0x8000." I can encrypt it with MBAM but then it keeps asking for the bitlockey keep after a restart. It will not let me downgrade the TPM. Clearing or resetting TPM to factory default with not make the TPM "ready for use."
Anybody else seen this?

At least there is the limitation that Legacy MBR mode is not supported for TPM 2.0 but by default it should not be a problem as Legacy Support should be disabled and Secure Boot enabled in the BIOS in the factory config.

You probably were saying 'didn't work', right?
That would be catch 22 situation because if you need to be in Legacy/MBR mode instead of UEFI for some reason and TPM 2.0 is not supported in Legacy mode:smileysad:

Right, I meant that it didn't work. As soon as I disable legacy mode and secure boot is on with UEFI, I cannot boot into the OS. I was thinking there may be a way to downgrade the TPM firmware from 2.0 to 1.2 because I know I can encrypt with Bitlocker without it asking for the key after every reboot but I cannot find the bin file for Manufacturer version: 5.62.3126.2

To me playing with an encrypted drive has always been scary stuff..things can go pear shaped too fast and final. Hope the backups are in good shape.
Just out of curiosity, there must be a reason why you are not using UEFI?
I tried to search for you a bit but you probably have found the same docs. I have no personal experience with any of this:
There is an update file to the version you look for here:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/tpm-security-update.813300/
I would somehow expect some crc/sha verification linking back to Infineon with a security product though...
There is a page discussing HP related stuff here:
And finally an option to use Bitlocker without TPM if all else fails:
