Hi @Perpetual-Learn,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP notebook is not letting you enter your PIN to sign in. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Step 1: Restart Your Laptop
- Hold the Power button for 10 seconds to force a shutdown.
- Wait a few seconds, then power it back on.
Step 2: Boot into Safe Mode
If the PIN screen still doesn’t appear:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it on and immediately press F11 repeatedly to enter Recovery Mode.
- Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- Press 4 to boot into Safe Mode.
Once in Safe Mode, you can:
- Try logging in with your password instead of your PIN.
- Remove or reset the PIN via Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
Step 3: Switch to Password Login
If the PIN screen is stuck or not responsive:
- On the login screen, look for “Sign-in options” below the PIN box.
- Click it and choose the key icon to switch to password login.
- Enter your Microsoft or local account password.
Step 4: Use On-Screen Keyboard
If your keyboard isn’t responding:
- On the login screen, click the Ease of Access icon (bottom-right).
- Select On-Screen Keyboard.
- Use it to enter your PIN or password.
Step 5: Reset PIN (if using Microsoft Account)
If you forgot your PIN or it’s not working:
- On the login screen, click “I forgot my PIN”.
- Follow the prompts to reset it using your Microsoft account credentials.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
