My Chromebook won't boot up at all. It won't even turn on. It is only a few months old. I tried to do a hard reset among other things and it didn't help. I bought a new cord from Amazon and that didn't help, either. The light that indicates that the laptop is charging doesn't light up. I tried to chat with HP Support on another computer, but the chat never fully loads (just spins) and I have no option to type. I tried to end the chat and print the chat log. It looks as though there is an agent typing to me, but he/she gets no response because their messages are not viewable when the chat is open and there is no place for me to type. Does anyone have a workaround for either fixing the problem or getting the chat feature to work?
Thanks for any ideas that you might have...

@Fairways514, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Chromebook!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like your HP Chromebook is experiencing a power-related issue. Since you've already tried a hard reset and a new power cord without success, here are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check the Power Outlet & Adapter:
- Plug the charger into a different power outlet to rule out an issue with the socket.
- Try using another compatible charger if available.
Remove Any External Devices:
- Disconnect USB drives, SD cards, or any peripherals, as they might be interfering with startup.
Perform a Battery Disconnect Reset (Embedded Controller Reset):
- For Chromebooks with a Removable Battery:
- Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if possible).
- Hold the power button for 30 seconds, then reinsert the battery and try turning it on.
- For Chromebooks with a Non-Removable Battery:
- Hold the Refresh (⟳) key and the Power button together for at least 10 seconds, then release and try turning it on.
Check for Signs of Life:
- Does the charging port feel loose or damaged?
- Does the Chromebook make any sound or show any brief lights when plugged in?
Let me know how it goes!
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thank you for responding, Zoey. Unfortunately, those ideas did not work. The computer is just dead...completely. There are no lights, sounds or anything else. The charging port feels normal, not loose. I have tried plugging it into several outlets. This Chromebook is only a few months old and has been babied. I can't remove the battery, because I am unwilling to remove any screws and possibly void the warranty. There are no peripherals hooked up to it. I just don't know what to think about it, at this point. I am starting to believe that I need to have Geek Squad or some other approved tech support company take a look at it.
