Solved!

Computer lags after waking from hibernate

HP 15-da1030tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My computer(laptop or notebook) shows some laggy behavior after it is turned on from hibernate.

I put my computer to sleep, it was set to automatically hibernate after left unused for 3 hours in the advanced power setting from the control panel, so its goes to hibernate mode from sleep mode, after I turned it on, it became laggy(lags).

As I was using in the lagging PC the screen suddenly went black for 5 sec and automatically turned on again, after this I restarted my PC and then all got back to normal performance.

Does this means I have to always restart it after waking from hibernate which defies the purpose of hibernating.

Help me out Please!!!

Solved!

Computer lags after waking from hibernate

@Ankit_Kr

Welcome to HP support community.

Please follow the below steps:

Step 1: Enabling the Keyboard in Windows

Skip this step if the computer does not enter sleep mode or if the computer wakes unexpectedly.

Follow these steps to enable your keyboard to wake your computer from sleep mode:

  1. In Windows, search for and open the Device Manager.

  2. Click the arrow next to Keyboards and double-click the name of your keyboard.

  3. If the Power Management tab is available, proceed to the next step.

If the Power Management tab is not available, click the Change Settings button if it appears below the Device status box. The same Keyboard Properties window opens with the Power Management tab available.

If you are prompted for an Administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  1. Click the Power Management tab and make sure that the box next to Allow this device to wake the computer is checked.

  2. Click OK, and then test to make sure that the keyboard can now wake the computer. If the computer still cannot wake from sleep mode, continue using these steps.

  3. For instructions on how to update the BIOS of your computer, see one of the following HP support documents: Updating the BIOS (Notebooks)

For more steps, please Click here

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for your reply, but my computer wakes up easily with the keyboard and mouse. My problem is that it slows down or lags(too much) after I start it from hibernate, but starting from sleep does not gives any problem.

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

This might require remote access of the computer to fix the issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Solved!

Computer lags after waking from hibernate

Thank you to answer on my post.

Let me describe a new update on my previous issue, after I updated my computer from HP support assistant I put my device to sleep for 1 hour, after switching on all the banners(balloon notifications) stopped working, a restart fixed it all. But I have to restart my pc after every sleep/hibernate or choose to always shut down.

So this is the behavior I thought it should be good to tell you.

Thanks

@Ankit_Kr,

I recommend you run the power troubleshooter to fix this issue.

Here is how it is done.

Press ‘Win + I’ shortcut keys to open Windows Settings app.

Click on ‘Update & Security’, then go to the ‘Troubleshoot’ section from the left-side menu.

Scroll downwards a bit and click on the ‘Power’ option.

Click on ‘Run the Troubleshooter’. It will start detecting the problems and if it founds, go ahead fixing it.

If you continue facing the issue, then follow the below steps.

On your keyboard, press ‘Windows key + R’ and type ‘Powercfg.cpl’ in it.

Hit the ‘Enter’ key to open power options in the control panel.

From the left-hand side, click on ‘Choose what the power buttons do’.

Then, click on the link ‘Change settings that are currently unavailable’.

From the bottom given power button options, uncheck the ‘Turn on fast startup’ option.

Click on ‘Save changes’ button.

Cheers!
