Solved!

Computer not fully booting

Hello @charitynjw

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Community.

  • Based on the provided details, the problem looks like a hardware issue. Also, the error code you provided tells me that the hard disk drive (HDD) has failed.  Since this is faulty HDD/hardware component, you will probably not be able to recovery your files. If you want to attempt data recovery, please let me know and I may post additional instructions.

  • The PC is out of warranty, you will need to buy and replace the disk on your own (for for free by HP).
  • Check the TKB article about such issues >> https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Knowledge-Base/Storage-Hard-Disk-Drive-corruption-and-replac...

You can buy a HDD or SSD from online or local tech stores, and replace it on your own or contact HP Authorized Service center for assitance. Refer to the product model service manual (page 40/48) >> http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05493762

Last part - once you replace the faulty HDD component - you will need to reinstall back your operating system

Let me know if you need assistance doing this - I may post details.

Let me know how it goes. Provide an update or feedback.

Computer not fully booting

Hi IT_WinSec

Thanks for the info.

For some strange reason, after a day or so of not using the notebook, out of sheer interest I tried booting it up.

& as you may have guessed by now, it fired up (booted) no problem!

I've now backed up all data onto an external hard drive just in case, but it seems to be working fine.

Thanks anyway for your prompt reply, & I'll certainly be back if there are further issues.

Kind regards.

Hi,

Thank you for the update. It's great that you backed up your data.

If you repeat the test and if the HDD test results are still the same, the disk will fail. Be prepared, it might be soon. If the code that was provided is correct, your HDD should be replaced eventually.
