My wife bought an HP Notebook 17 two years ago. She didn't open it for several months. When she did open it, it worked for a few months but it would get very hot every time she used it. Presently it does not come on at all despite the fact that the led lights do come on. I've attempted every boot process that I know and I know several. I cannot get Tech Support at all. None of the phone numbers connect you to an actual person. I'm extremely frustrated with HP and I would like to get this computer working.

@PeterG144, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
If you see the led lights on the Notebook, it means it is powering ON. Check for the fan sound too.
Remove discs and devices
Before troubleshooting startup issues, remove or disconnect all discs and devices from the computer.
-
Turn off the computer.
-
Remove any discs and USB devices.
-
Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.
-
Disconnect all non-essential devices such as printers, scanners, external hard drives.
-
Leave only the mouse, keyboard, and monitor connected.
After you have removed all discs and devices, turn on the computer.
-
If the computer starts, reconnect devices one at a time, to determine which disc or device is causing the problem. If the issue is solved, troubleshooting is complete.
-
If the computer still does not start and exhibits the same problem, press and hold the Power button to turn off the computer. Do not connect anything, and then continue troubleshooting.
