Hi @Lola62525

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how unsettling it feels to see your laptop stuck in a repair loop instead of starting normally. You’ve already observed the repeated black screen and numbers, which shows the system is trying to recover but isn’t completing the process.

Let’s go through some steps that can help break the cycle and bring your laptop back to a usable state.

Steps to Resolve Repair Loop

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, accessories).
  • Unplug the power adapter.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power adapter and turn the laptop back on.

Run Hardware Diagnostics

  • Turn the laptop off completely.
  • Press the power button and immediately tap the F2 key repeatedly.
  • This opens HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run the “System Test” or at least the “Quick Test” for memory and hard drive.
  • If any errors appear, note them down.

Access Advanced Startup Options

  • Power on and interrupt the boot three times (press and hold the power button as soon as Windows starts loading).
  • On the fourth attempt, Windows should enter the Recovery Environment.
  • Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.
  • Allow the repair process to run fully.

Use System Restore

  • From the Recovery Environment, go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > System Restore.
  • Choose a restore point created before the repair loop began.
  • Follow the prompts to restore the system.

Check Boot Order in BIOS

  • Restart and press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
  • Ensure the primary hard drive is listed first in the boot order.
  • Save changes and exit.

Update BIOS and Drivers

  • Once you regain access to Windows, visit the HP support page for your model: HP Software and Driver Downloads.
  • Enter your product name or serial number.
  • Download and install the latest BIOS and driver updates.

By following these steps, you’ll give the system a chance to reset, verify hardware health, and repair Windows properly. If the loop continues after diagnostics and restore attempts, it usually points to a deeper issue with the drive or system files, which can be addressed once you’re able to boot into recovery.
