HP ENVY TS15 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

How to restore normal operation when during initial power up you get the HP logo and then it automatically starts a “Performing Automatic Repair”; then stops to a black screen and then starts a new “Preparing Automatic Repair” loop again and again and again.  It will not let me get to a “reset” or “restore” option after pressing F11.  It very shortly indicates my computer ran into a problem, then automatically goes back to the auto repair loop.

Any suggestions?

I have a similar problem and the same computer.
I had to install windows again and again until it finally gave up and didnt boot from anything.
I'm afraid nothing can be done at this point.

These laptops are old now.

Thanks for your input.

FWIW, I have a much older HP laptop and have much better experience….just slow and no camera.

I ran a Quick and  then an extensive components test and a system test with no error codes.  I would think since HP has a specific category for “boot loop” someone would have a fix.

Also, I do not have Windows software…computer came loaded with Windows 8.  I would like to update to at least 10 or now 11.

Hi@CECarson,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

The only option is to reimage the operating system to factory settings.

  1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
  2. Click Advanced system settings.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. In the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings.
  5. Click to clear the Automatically restart check box.

If you've been using the Recovery Partition (F11) to reinstall the OS, I recommend using the Recovery media instead to wipe out the HDD and create a new partition and fresh OS installation: Click here to obtain one, if you don't have on in your possession.

Thanks for the links to reimagine my hard drive; however, I am unable to get to “My Computer” to right click.

Can someone call me to walk me through the process of reimagine my hard drive by a means that does not require getting to “My Computer”?

Hi@CECarson,

I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the support options for your computer.
