I gotta say for one, what a joke HP is for not offering any free support on this.
But regardless, for anyone who may come across this and have an answer for me, here it goes.
Laptop will not start. It gets to either the HP logo only, or an HP logo followed by the blue screen "critical process died." Either way, it will turn off afterwards. It does not restart on its own as the message states.
I have tried the following:
Press and holding power button to turn on/off 3+ times. This does not give me anything other than what I just mentioned.
Repeatedly tapping ESC, F2, F8 or F11 on start-up. Mostly useless, outside of one time. I was able to get to diagnostics tests. Ran full tests, no errors were found. It let me go thru the menu options after tests were done (took 2 hours) and all seemed fine. Rebooted, same nonsense.
Spoke at length with a Microsoft rep. They gave me all of these and more tests/prompts/techniques to try. All useless. They then said I should contact HP, as they may be of better assistance to me. The virtual assistant is laughable, and I'm definitely not paying for any phone support. So if anybody has a clue, I am all ears.
