Compaq Presario CQ61-420US Notebook PC

My CQ61-420US has a flashing caps light and number lock light. The screen is black. Have tried rebooting with win+B and win+V. No luck. Even replaced the screen in case it was a hardware issue. Would like to recover the BIOS with a USB recovery drive, but the files are no longer available due to it being "retired". Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the BIOS update file? If not, is it possible to create a BIOS USB recovery drive from an identical laptop? (I have two CQ61-420US laptops.) Think that it has an AMD processor. Thanks!

I don't believe that you can create a BIOS recovery drive with those older BIOS update files, but I am not 100% certain about that.

 

FWIW, you can get the last BIOS update HP released for your notebook from this reputable 3rd party driver website:

 

HP Compaq Presario CQ61-420US BIOS (driverscollection.com)
