Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

The BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) with the stop code WDF_VIOLATION and the file amdsfhkmdf.sys indicates an issue with a driver related to AMD software or hardware. The amdsfhkmdf.sys file is part of AMD's software stack, which can cause system crashes if it encounters problems. Here are steps you can take to address this issue:

1. Update or Reinstall AMD Drivers:

Download the Latest Drivers:

  1. Go to the AMD Drivers and Support website.
  2. Enter your graphics card or chipset details to find the latest drivers for your specific hardware.
  3. Download and install the latest drivers.

Reinstall Drivers:

  1. Open Device Manager (right-click Start button and select Device Manager).
  2. Expand Display adapters or System devices (depending on where the driver issue is).
  3. Right-click on your AMD device and select Uninstall device. Check the box to delete the driver software if prompted.
  4. Restart your computer.
  5. Install the latest drivers you downloaded earlier.

2. Check for Windows Updates:

  • Update Windows:
    1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
    2. Click Check for updates and install any available updates.

3. Run System File Checker and DISM:

System File Checker (SFC):

  1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator (right-click Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin)).
  2. Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
  3. Wait for the scan to complete and follow any instructions provided.

Deployment Imaging Service and Management Tool (DISM):

  1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
  2. Type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press Enter.
  3. Wait for the process to complete and then restart your computer.

4. Perform a Clean Boot:

  • Clean Boot:
    1. Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
    2. Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and click Disable all.
    3. Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
    4. Disable all startup items and restart your computer.
