Pavillon 15-dw3xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought a pavillon last year and after 1year and 2 weeks the mother board died.

As I need it quiclely, I decided to by a new one (same model but 11th gen instead of 10th gen).

I thought it would be quick to switch the drives between my old and my new and be up and running.

Unfortunately, on my "old" laptop, I used the legacy disk managment so the VMD drivers where not installed on my system.

In my new HP bios, I do not find how to disable VMD technology.

[edit] seems to be impossible on computer with intel 11th generation

I see that I can downlaod the driver and install them in dos recovery command, so dos detects all my drives, but I still cannot launch windows

Any ideas ?

@garitu

There's actually more to it than simply switching drives.

The old drive has the drivers for the other laptop; if this one is nearly identical, those drivers might work -- but if not, they will not.

But also, this is not a LEGAL thing to do!  Why? Because the Windows on the drive in the other laptop is an OEM license and that is tied to the laptop, not to the owner.  Even if you could get it working in this laptop, it will eventually deactivate and you will not be able to reactivate it because HP will not provide you another OEM license, since once already came embedded into the new laptop.
