Hi, still using my old trusted HP Envy X360 bq108ca from time to time with the F.19 BIOS. I'm wondering if new BIOS F.24 has a feature called Battery Health Manager like here (check between 1:00 and 1:10 in this HP help video):

https://www.google.com/search?q=hp+laptop+battery+charging+control&rlz=1C1AFAB_enPL448PL448&oq=lapto...

or is it still only on business line laptops as per: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Notebooks/how-can-i-access-the-quot-Battery-Health-Manager-quot...

Any other solution to limit battery charging?

Hello @proxyx

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.

The <maximize battery health> function is not yet supported in your BIOS version. A future update might support this.

I recommend using up the battery to 30% remaining capacity 1 to 2 times per month and then recharging it. Then it should last longer.

A healthy balance is recommended.

Thanks for your input. Problem is battery swelling, which warps the housing caused by BIOS always keeping battery charged at 100%. Lenovo, Asus have overcharge protection implemented, but not the HP, only in business line laptops. Makes me wonder why... it makes no sense. Is disaster prevention (fire hazzard) a premium feature? Discharging is of little help, it does not prevent swelling in the long run. I replaced the battery already but... since there's no remedy, I'd rather use laptop without it, battery removed & laptop plugged into the wall  🙂

Hello @proxyx

I agree with you. Unfortunately, the function is not implemented in comsumer notebooks.

You can work without battery. Discharge the battery to 40-50% before storage.

Kind regards

Just so you know what dagerously swollen, ready to explode, laptop battery looks like, have a look. This is basic user safety HP is denying their consumers... unacceptable and worthy of strongest condemnation.

Users beware. To HP: fix it to prevent battery overload. It's time.

Just as I replied to you in PM you can assist me further by implementing Battery Health Manager in all recent BIOS releases for all supported laptops for all users, not only in the business line products, like other manufacturers do.

As you know this functionality can be utilized only on the BIOS level, the solution is in your (HP) hands not mine.

Cheers.
