Windows 11HP Laptop
The problem started following a force shutdown by pressing power button directly. Since then following happens when turned ON...
On the top left of screen, it says
The Operating System did not shutdown cleanly
reconstructing cache meta data......
and then bunch of lines.
This screen disappears in few seconds, then goes to HP looo and stuck there forever. After a long time, gets the BSOD which says 'we ran into problem. restart computer.Drive_PNP_Watchdog
Tried following until now, none worked.
Tried Recovery Option from BIOS - does not work - HP Logo and then BSOD
Tried HP Cloud Recovery Tool - Created a recovery media from HP - When booted through flash drive - Loading dots comes under HP logo (which I dont usually see while booting normally) - stuck on this for long time and then goes to BSOD.
Whatever I do, i dont get the recovery options
Tried Microsoft Media Creator on USB flash drive - Systtem Boots. When I go into Troubleshoot, I dont have reset PC option. Tried other options, none work. When i try fix start up, it says unable to fix start up, if i try uninstall updates, it says unabel to uninstall updates.
Tried downloading latest BIOS file from HP and updated BIOS. No luck.
Tried HP BIOS diagnostics. All checks passed. No issue or fault found on any of the components.
Any idea what else I can try please?

Hi @Bavajan,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop not booting up!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
1. Fully Power Cycle the Laptop
Turn the laptop off completely.
Disconnect the power adapter.
Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
Reconnect power and try booting again.
2. Try Booting in Safe Mode (if accessible)
Turn the laptop on and force shut it down twice when you see the HP logo.
On the third boot, Windows should attempt to load the Advanced Startup Menu.
Go to Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Startup Settings → Restart → Press 4 or F4 for Safe Mode.
If it boots in Safe Mode, back up your files immediately and run:
sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
3. Attempt a Full Windows Reset from USB Media
Since your HP Cloud Recovery attempt failed, use Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool to reinstall Windows:
Create a Windows 11 bootable USB from another computer.
Boot from it on your HP laptop (press F9 on startup to choose boot device).
Choose Install now → Custom: Install Windows only (advanced).
When you see the partitions list, delete all partitions (this will erase the drive) and install Windows fresh.
(If you have important files, stop here and back them up first by connecting the drive to another PC.)
4. Check Storage Drive Health Outside Windows
Even if HP Diagnostics passed, sometimes the drive can still have firmware-level or file structure corruption.
Boot from a tool like Hiren’s BootCD PE or Ubuntu Live USB.
Access the drive to check if files are readable and back them up.
If the drive is inaccessible or extremely slow, replacing it may be necessary.
5. If the Issue Persists
If even a clean reinstall fails or USB installations get stuck before copying files, the cause could be:
Faulty SSD/HDD controller
Motherboard storage interface issue
At that point, service intervention would be the best next step.
I hope this helps.

Hello @Kuroi
I have important data. so Unable to try full reinstall. I did tried Ubuntu live USB. It boots into Ubuntu but does not mount my internal hard drive. I tried testdisk scan. It can see my internal hard drive with 512 gb. but the [artion size showing as zero MB. in the scan result on the hard drive, it shows that couple of partitions cant be recovered and and both partions shows as MS Data with 500 MB each. Looks like there is some serious hard drvive partition tables corruption. Ubutun cant read any data or pictures on my hard drive? not sure taking the hard drive out and connect to another pc will help to recover data. will have to try that next.

Similar issue on a HP Envy 360, about six months old, Win 11. Ran all sorts of maintenance stuff, System Manager, scan now, full Bit Defender scan, nothing other than cache cleanups comes up. I finally got it to work, but boot up takes 10-15 minutes. I found a similar post on another forum about a very slow boot-up. Will try things suggested here, which I didn't find on other forums. Or, just go to sleep mode. I usually run 24/7, but taking on a week's trip to Toronto, where I need it to work.
The hard drives check out fine. The only odd clue is that once my Macrium Guard warned me to stop making many attempts to the backup file, and System Events showed about 30 warnings, all related to the BitDefender program trying to read the file. But on another reboot, that didn't come up, but it took about 15 minutes to load Windows fully, connect to Wi-Fi, etc.
So, I'm trying all sorts of things. I will try your suggestions, which I recall working on a laptop many years ago. Thanks for the idea.
Seems many folks are having similar issues. It may have been a recent Win update - it started a few weeks or so ago (when I reboot every few weeks). But now having issues on about every other reboot - it is not consistent.
