Hello everybody! I am really happy to be part of HP community. I have bought HP EliteBook 840 g2 (with i7-5500u proccessor, SDD, 8GB RAM, ...). So here is my problem:
I use Ubuntu for my work hours, but I want to use Windows for my rest hours :catvery-happy:
The problem is that HP expects to boot Windows OS. One I have booted Ubuntu and when I have turned off the device and later turn it on my HP sad: ,,No boot..". I found out that I need to change some things so my laptop will think that my ubuntu is windows. And it worked! For like 4 months I am using ubuntu on it and it is working really great. Also, before that I've tryed to boot windows first then ubuntu, HP only saw Windows after restart. So now my question is:
Is it possible for me now to boot windows next to this Ubuntu I already have and use Grub every time I turn on my EliteBook and choose to use Ubuntu or Windows? If this is hard I can wipe whole SSD and boot win & ubuntu for fresh. Can somebody give me some step by step post on how to to this since HP has this problem with booting linux?
THANKX

Hello;
Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!
LOTS of folks in the Ubuntu community dual-boot Windows and Ubuntu.
Windows does not use GRUB, so your best bet for assistance on this is the Ubuntu Forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/
Good Luck

All that GRUB does is hand over control to the Windows boot loader; it has nothing whatsoever to do with booting Windows itself.
Also, due to UEFI, configuring dual-boot PCs is a LOT harder now: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2147295
Which is why you would do better seeking help from the UBuntu forums -- where folks know how to do this.
