Microsoft just released their bi-weekly/monthly windows update for win 10. The issue still persists. HP still doesn't do anything to fix the crashes.

@Praveen196

Is someone doing anything? Or HP doesn't care about it's laptops crashing?

I seriously have no idea how this widespread problem has gone on for almost a month without a fix for such an expensive product.

This was a fix someone else posted, seems to work for me so far;

  1. Go to Device Manager

  2. View --> Show Hidden Devices

  3. Find in System Devices the hardware "Intel(R) Watchdog Driver Timer"

  4. Uninstall with the option check "Delete the driver software for this device"

  5. Restart

  6. Go to Device Manager, and repeat the process until the hardware "Intel(R) Watchdog Driver Timer" has been disappeared.

Automatic windows updates will bring the drivers back. I disabled the windows update service and windows update medic service(from the registry) for now. I would do a manual windows update about once a month, delete the drivers again, and turn the updates off.

Alternatively, you can go to system properties (Search for advanced system settings in cortana), Hardware tab on the top, and then device installation settings. Then select automatically download manufacturers' apps and drivers to no. This way windows updates remain functioning, but you loose all driver updates.

Got this information after 1 month of struggling, and talking to 7 different people at HP. Hopefully they fix this soon. This stop-gap solution can't go on for long.

I set "Advanced System settings"--->"Automatically download manufacturers' apps and drivers" to Yes. It seems like HP has permanently disabled the Intel Watchdog Timer feature. So they either couldn't make it work with some hardware/drivers on the Envy15 or didn't care enough to try to make it work.
