Envy 17m-ae011dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased this computer about 2 months ago and I can say that I have never seen anything so fast. However, this changed 2 days ago. After downloading Microsoft updates the bootup time changed from 3 seconds to between 11 and 15 minutes! I get a black screen after I log in my password, but whats worst is every time I turn in my computer the bootup time gets longer. Whats happening? I removed the update thinking that this might fix it but to no avail. How can I fix this? I am really upset about it since I paid a lot of money for a fast computer that I only got for 2 months. Thank you for your help.

Hello liza,

This issue is documented & the resolution is explained in a few other threads but here is a quick guide:

- press ctrl+alt+delete

- open task manager

- click File -> run new task (you might have to click "more details first")

- type "msconfig"

- go to services and untick the box next to "app readniess"

- press apply, OK and reboot

Long story short: a windows update dun goofed, hope this helps 🙂
