HP Spectre x360 — 15-bl012dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The laptop turns off and when rebooting it gives the error hard disk 3f0. I tried resetting the BIOS settings, switched boot legacy to eneble according to the guide. I entered chkdsk C: /f /r /x in the line as administrator and checked the memory through the BIOS itself via f2. I used the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics program - I did not find any problems

Hi @Dinozavrrr,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the detailed info — it helps a lot. The "Hard Disk 3F0" error is serious: it usually means your laptop can’t detect the hard drive, even if the diagnostics didn't report issues.

Here’s a structured approach to fix or confirm the issue:

 1. Double-Check BIOS Settings

  1. Restart and press Esc → then F10 to enter BIOS.
  2. Go to System Configuration > Boot Options:
    • Boot Mode: Set to UEFI (not Legacy).
    • Secure Boot: Set to Disabled.
    • Legacy Support: Set to Disabled (unless Kali was installed in Legacy mode).
  3. Under UEFI Boot Order, make sure your internal SSD is listed.
  4. Press F10 to save and exit.

2. Check if Drive is Detected

  • In BIOS, under Storage or System Information, check if your SSD is listed.
    • If not listed: The SSD may be loose or failing.
    • If listed: The bootloader may be missing or corrupted.

3. Use F11 Recovery (if Windows was preinstalled)

  • Turn on the laptop and press F11 repeatedly.
  • If the HP Recovery Environment loads, try System Restore or Startup Repair.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
