That worked perfectly thank you.  I don’t have a key to activate windows 8 since I never made an iso until now :-/.  Lesson learned ! Will I have issues trying to upgrade? I’m upgrading now.

Hi:

The W8.1 product key is in your notebook's BIOS and you shouldn't have needed to activate W8.1.

 

If you got a notification that W8.1 needs to be activated, something is wrong.

Ok I did not get a notification  but was browsing and there was a menu that said activate windows and I got curious.

In W8.1, If you go to the Windows control panel>system & security>system, at the bottom of that section it should indicate that Windows is activated.

 

IN W10, you go to settings>update & security>activation and at the top section of that window, it should indicate that Windows is activated with a digital license.

Ok thank you so much for your help!  I’m in with windows 10 and doing updates and no issues. I appreciate the easy instructions for me to follow. Laptop is like new.
