When I try to setup fingerprint sign-in, it says "we couldn't find a scanner compatible with Windows Hello Fingerprint." How can I fix this?

If you did not purchase the fingerprint reader feature with the computer, the little "box" is simply a cover plate and not a real sensor.

True - little cover plate and sensor look the same.

The "solution" if your computer does not have the fingerprint reader installed:

Purchase the necessary part and install it into your computer.

Pages 51-52

"Reverse" the illustrated "remove" procedure to install the fingerprint reader

Example - Generic - Device Manager - Categories > Biometric devices / Camera

NOTE

The picture in the example is from a different keyboard --

The process to check the Device Manager > Biometric devices is the same.

When (if) you get to the point that you need a driver for the installed fingerprint reader hardware,

Get you driver:

Synaptics FS7600 WBF Touch Fingerprint Driver
