The screen remains dark. Besides the indictor of AC port blinks three times.
I don't have extra ram except onboard 4GB memory. I added a ram on it. Then its like pc is on but screen remains dark.
I tried many tricks like reset, pressing power key + mute button. But Nothing is working. It will be helpful if there are any other ways to turn it on.

I am confused by your note. Did you add additional memory to the system?
Are you saying that you only have the original 4Gb or memory or did you add more memory to the system? If you have added memory to the system, remove the memory you added to the system and see if you can boot the system. If you can boot the system with only the original 4Gb it is possible that you are trying to add memory that is not compatible with the system.
You might also try and use an external monitor attached to the system. This will help determine if the display is not functioning properly.

I also have a HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 that will not power on. There are no power indicators at all. I replaced the AC adapter and no change. I read this solution in another forum but haven't tried it yet:
"your laptop has static electric charge made power circuit in wrong state. Unplug AC adapter, take out the battery and hold down power button for 30 seconds, the static charge will dissipate. Plug in the AC Adapter and turn on your laptop HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1. This should restore the system to normal operating mode."

The steps that you have described will perform a "hard reset" on your notebook. However, on your system you do not need to remove the battery. The actions of pressing and holding the power button for 15 seconds is the equivalent of removing the battery. If you still are having an issue with powering on your unit after performing the "hard reset" I suggest you contact HP Technical Support for additional troubleshooting. It is possible that you have had a hardware failure.

I had the same problem after switching out my RAM. Just take it out, clean the contact pads with a microfiber cloth or some tissue. This did the trick for me, I'm guessing there was a faulty connection on the RAM.
