Product: HP EliteBook 840 14 inch G9 Notebook PC IDS Base Model
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

Tried wiping whole ssd to do a full Windows install from scratch but it «chose» to ignore my windowsinstall and rather do a install from previpus version. Which put me back to start befor i wiped the disk

Use the HP cloud recovery client utility to make a bootable USB recovery drive, boot from that to factory reset the notebook.

 

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  Pay particular attention for how to reinstall the drivers and software.
