17-bs051od
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was helping a friend out with their HP laptop model 17-bs051od that had the hard drive failed. I dropped in a blank new one and couldn't load the OS because they left a BIOS lock password on it to even boot up. They insist it's one of two passwords but neither work. So I removed the main battery and CMOS battery and left it overnight and it did come up with a CMOS reset notification at next boot but still had the password. After 3 bad attempts it says it's locked and has some sort of unique override code. If anyone knows the response for this, the code is i 85085504.

@Pcomprepair

I would think that you would be aware that, unlike with desktops, removing the CMOS battery in laptops does not reset a BIOS password.

Sorry, but there is nothing we can do for you about this from here.

I know we used to give out codes to bypass password issues, but the Community Policies changed this March such that we are now PROHIBITED from assisting customers in bypassing Admin or BIOS passwords, or in resetting those passwords.

For assistance in this NOW, you have to contact your regional HP Customer Support location directly as they will confirm ownership of the PC before providing any assistance -- something we are not able to do from here.

If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!

Good Luck
