Hello HP Community,

I am using an HP laptop provided under the Government (ELCOT) scheme.

During startup, a Government / customized boot logo appears instead of the default HP logo.

I contacted HP support and was informed that this logo is not sent by HP and may be related to Windows/Microsoft customization.

I would like to confirm from the community and HP experts:

1. Is it possible to remove the Government boot logo and restore the default HP boot logo through:

   - BIOS settings, or

   - Official HP BIOS update, or

   - HP authorized service center?

2. If it is possible, will doing so affect the warranty in any way?

3. If it is not possible, kindly confirm whether this logo is permanently embedded as part of a Government/OEM customization.

Laptop details:

Model: HP 245 G10

Product number: C2BP4PC

OS: Windows 11

Thank you for your guidance.

Hi @JW9384,

The Government/ELCOT boot logo appears at the very early power on stage (during POST) before Windows Boot Manager loads, which means it is typically controlled by the system’s BIOS/UEFI firmware branding (OEM customization) rather than any Windows 11 or Microsoft setting. On such units, the logo is generally stored inside the UEFI firmware image in a dedicated OEM logo/branding region, and normal user facing BIOS menus do not provide an option to toggle or replace it. In many cases, even flashing an official HP BIOS update using standard tools will not overwrite that specific branding block, because the update package may preserve OEM configuration variables (NVRAM) or keep the customized firmware capsule intact. If changing it is possible at all, the correct and safest approach is via an HP Authorized Service Center, where they can verify the device’s firmware SKU, check whether the laptop is locked to a scheme specific BIOS build, and confirm if a supported reflash to standard retail firmware is permitted. If any firmware change is performed officially through HP service procedures, it should not impact warranty, but attempting unofficial BIOS modification, 3rd party flashing tools, or patched firmware can risk firmware corruption (BIOS brick) and may affect warranty coverage. If the service center confirms it cannot be changed, then the logo is effectively embedded as part of the Government/OEM institutional customization of the UEFI firmware.
