Since the last 2-3 days I am experiencing a problem with my notebook that it restarts when I try to shutdown but with what I have noticed is that it only does this when it has been previously been put in sleep mode and once the restart occurs and then when I shut it down it does so normally. Plus I have also noticed that sometimes Windows doesn't recognize that the notebook has been unplugged and should change to the power settings for battery power and this goes for when I plug it in as well, it just doesn't respond to being plugged and unplugged. Any help is appreciated.

Issues with Battery and PC shutting down. Is that right?
I would like to definitely help you.
Try uninstalling the Battery controllers from the device manager and check if that takes care of the Charging indication issue.
- Press and hold the windows key with your left hand and then tap on the letter X key with your right hand.
- Then select devise manager from the list.
- Right click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant control method battery and chose uninstall.
- Then restart the PC by closing the device manager.
Hope this helps

Hi resolv_s,
Thank you for your reply. I have performed the steps you mentioned to clear the battery indicator issue but I can't say for certain that this resolved it due to the issue being completely random. From what I have read is that the restart issue is being caused by a Windows update that was released on 1st of October and my notebook started doing this just after that update so I think it was the reason and there is a patch coming to fix this issue soon and maybe the indicator issue was also part of the bugs in the update but as I said before I have folowed your instructions just in-case it was independent of the Windows update. I am accepting your answer as the solution but to everyone who reads this must be aware that this is only partially true if their battery indicator is giving you problems. Thanks for your kind reply.
Regards,
