Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I recently received an HP 15-dy0000 laptop as a gift, and it has stopped working randomly. It will not turn on without the charger plugged in, and when I press the power button with the charger connected, the led power indicator lights up, the SSD/drive led does not, but the screen remains black, though, when I hold the power button to shut it off, the screen briefly flashes white, then shuts off (It sometimes flashes white while on as well). I do not hear any fans or anything of the sort running while it is on. I have tried multiple key combinations/fixes other people with similar issues were recommended in an attempt to resolve this (Hard reset, Win+b/Win+v before powering on, Win+Ctrl+Shift+b, etc), but nothing so far has had any sort of effect. Posting this is my last resort before sending it to HP directly to be repaired, as it is still under warranty. Hopefully someone has some sort of fix for this, thank you in advance.

Hi @SalineFuzzball,
Welcome to HP Support Community. This is a great place to post questions and find answers.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you facing black screen issues with your HP Notebook.

Let’s try the power drain to discharge the static charges.

1. Turn off the laptop, disconnect the power adapter.
2. Press and hold the F6 and power button for 20 seconds.
After the above steps, connect the power cable back and power on the laptop.

If the issue persists, then I suggest that you follow the steps listed below for BIOS recovery.

1. Turn off the computer, and then connect the power cord.
2. Press and hold the Windows key and the B key at the same time, and then press and hold the power button for 2 to 3 seconds.
3. Release the Power button but continue pressing the Windows and B keys. You might hear a series of beeps.
4. The HP BIOS Update screen displays and the recovery begins automatically. Follow any on-screen prompts to continue the startup to complete the recovery.
