Hello,
I have an HP All-in-One 24-dt0004nj (Platform: TPC-Q068-24) with BIOS version 8744 vF.22.
When I insert a new M.2 PCIe Gen3 x4 NVMe SSD (Superheer E400, 512GB), the computer freezes at the HP logo screen and does not respond to any key presses (Esc, F10, etc).
I am unable to access BIOS or boot from USB.
As soon as I remove the NVMe SSD, the system behaves normally — it boots, enters BIOS, and responds to keyboard input. This behavior is consistent every time the new SSD is inserted.
The original SSD (shipped with the PC) still works and boots into FreeDOS without issues.
Has anyone encountered this behavior with this model or BIOS version?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi @JoelTech,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check SSD Compatibility: Ensure that the Superheer E400 NVMe SSD is compatible with your HP All-in-One 24-dt0004nj. Consult the SSD’s specifications and compare them to the compatibility list or specifications provided by HP.
Firmware and BIOS Update: Verify that your system BIOS and firmware are up to date:
- Go to the HP support website.
- Enter your product model number.
- Download and install the latest BIOS update for your HP All-in-One 24-dt0004nj.
- To determine the current BIOS version:
- Click Start > Shut Down.
- Select Restart and click OK.
- When the first screen displays, press F10 to enter Setup.
- Write down the current BIOS version.
- Exit Setup by pressing Esc, selecting Yes, and pressing Enter.

- Clear CMOS: Clearing CMOS ensures that the BIOS settings are reset to factory defaults, which might resolve any configuration issues causing the freeze.
- Turn off the computer and disconnect all power sources.
- Remove the access panel and the RTC battery.
- Locate the CMOS jumper header on the motherboard (usually labeled CLEAR CMOS).
- Remove the jumper from pins 2-3 and place it on pins 1-2 for 5 to 10 seconds.
- Replace the jumper on pins 2-3, reinstall the battery, and reassemble the computer.
- Turn on the computer and re-enter BIOS.

Check M.2 Slot and SSD:
- Ensure the SSD is properly seated in the M.2 slot.
- Check for any physical damage to the M.2 slot or the SSD.
- Try a different NVMe SSD in the M.2 slot to rule out issues with the SSD itself.
Secure Boot and BIOS Settings: Sometimes Secure Boot settings can interfere with new hardware installations. Disable Secure Boot in the BIOS setup if possible:
- Enter BIOS (Press F10 during startup).
- Go to the Security > Secure Boot Configuration.
- Disable Secure Boot and save changes.
I hope this helps.
