Hello, everyone. I bought my mom an HP Chromebook about a year-and-a-half ago, and unfortunately, it just suddenly shut off on her and will not turn back on. I have tried all kinds of methods, including hard resetting, system recovery, and others with zero success.
She does not use the Chromebook often, mostly for paying bills, shopping on Amazon, and looking up recipes. While she was looking at a recipe, the computer just turned off on her. There is no water damage, and I took it apart to look for any hardware issues, which there were none. At the moment, it is just a black screen with the backlight turned on. I was able to bring up the recovery screen before performing a system recovery, but since then, I can no longer get anything to come up on screen.
I have noticed that a decent amount of people have experienced similar issues with the HP Chromebook - 14-ca061dx model, and I was wondering if there have been any solutions to this issue. I hate this for her, because she doesn't use it often and it is not that old. To see it croak so quickly and so effortlessly makes it seem like a faulty product, if I'm being honest.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Gaya1239,
If you read my original post, I already did everything that you just suggested. There are no external devices connected, I attempted hard resets with no success, and I performed a system recovery that actually did more damage than help. I can no longer bring up the recovery screen, and now all that I am getting is the backlight turning on with no image on screen. If I hold return and the power button right now, it just turns the backlight off, and then nothing happens.
As I said, this Chromebook was working perfectly fine and was only used occasionally. The sudden death of this laptop is quite concerning for the HP brand, and I can honestly tell you that my mom and I are definitely losing trust in HP after this experience and the lack of proper help we've received. We just keep getting the same three suggestions (e.g. Remove external devices, perform a hard reset, perform a system recovery), and I will say it again, I have done all of these things with ZERO resolve.
It just does not make sense for this Chromebook to brick after such little use, which makes me believe that this was a lemon. A bad purchase, and a sad reality check that this is not a good brand to invest in. Thank you for trying to help. Have a good day.
