Hi
after an unlucky try to update bios (lock of insydeflash), and without HP_Tools parition, i try to create an USB flash key.
I have red this document and respect this procedure : https://support.hp.com/fr-fr/document/c02723595.
Step 1 cannot be ok by lack of HP Tools parition. So I go to step 2
I download the bios for my model sp61028.exe.
I accept the license agrement. Sp61028.exe unzip in folder Swsetup and then aborts with the message "IHISI: Get support mode fail in SMI!". After my OK, a new message "Bios did not support Insydeflash".
I have already tried
- with another Usb flash key (1 GO)
- on another computer (non HP) idem
- with Fat ou Fat32 idem,
On an HP computer (but other model), sp61028.exe will direct flash the bios . Si I stop immediately. He never proposes tu create a flash USB Key
Is the procedure of the document https://support.hp.com/fr-fr/document/c02723595 right ?
Do I download the right Bios ?
No model de DV6 XD585EA
Thanks for your help !

Hi
Make Model and OS please.
HP Pavilion dv6-3140sf Entertainment Notebook PC?
BIOS F29 Windows 64 bit sp61028.exe (4.2 MB)
This package provides an update to the System BIOS. The update installs on supported notebook models using a supported Microsoft Windows Operating System. A reboot is required to complete the installation.
It seems like you have done everything correctly.

Hi
XD585EA is Pavilion DV6-3140SF.
I have followed this document that you indicate https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/hp-pavilion-dv6-3100-entertainment-notebook-pc-series/4247579/m...
My DV6 has no os working. Bios KO. and no more HP-Tools partition.
I want recovery the bios.
So I can't make Step 1 described in the document.
I want to make Step 2: Download a replacement BIOS file : I have downloaded sp61008.exe.
I accept the license agrement
Then Sp61028.exe unzip in folder Swsetup. The windows that allows to choose "Create recovery USB flash drive" never appears
but sp61028.exe aborts with the message "IHISI: Get support mode fail in SMI!". After my OK, a new message "Bios did not support Insydeflash".
I have already tried
- with another Usb flash key (1 GO)
- on another computer (non HP) idem
- with Fat ou Fat32 idem
with an HP computer (but other model), the windows "create an usb flash drive" doesn't appear. He wants to flash immediately !
Thanks for your help

Hi,
I will try to resume with other formulation.
I have a HP DV6 3140SF notebook. I call it PC1. It has a new HDD and his BIOS does not work = No OS, no Bios, => no boot.
So I follow the procedure described in the document that you indicate.
On PC1 (DV6), "Step 1" is impossible because I have no HP_Tools recovery partition.
So with another PC (PC2, running Win 7 64 bits)2, I make "step 2" and "step "3" :
- step 2 : on PC2 I download sp61028.exe on the HDD of PC2
- I put a blank Usb flash drive (1Go) in a USB port of PC2
- I run sp61028.exe on PC2
- I click Next "Figure 3 : Clicking Next"
- I click "Accept" and agree the license agreement "Figure : Accepting the End User License Agreement terms and clicking Next"
- sp61028.exe unzip files in Swsetup folder
- I don't obtain "Figure 5 : Selecting Create Recovery USB flash drive and clicking Next" but the windows of abort of sp61028.exe with message "IHISI: Get support mode fail in SMI!" ; I Click OK : and then an other window with message "Bios did not support Insydeflash".
As sayed in precedent message, I Have tried :
- an other Usb stick
- FAT and FAT32 on every stick
- another PC (PC3) running also Win 7 64 bits
I obtain the same result.
sp61028.exe seems unable to do the same as described in document https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/hp-pavilion-dv6-3100-entertainment-notebook-pc-series/4247579/m....
In step 3 of this document, is written "Use HP BIOS Update and Recovery to create a BIOS recovery flash drive."
Is Sp61028.exe able to create a recovery flash drive or is there a specific "HP BIOS Update and Recovery" utility to create a BIOS recovery flash drive ?
or in wich configuration must I run sp61028.exe ?
Thanks !

Insyde BIOS Recovery
1) Obtain the correct BIOS file for your system. The file extension will usually be one of the following: “.bin”
0143FF29.bin
2.) Please see paragraph 3 to determine what you should rename the BIOS file to.
3.) Copy the renamed BIOS file to an EMPTY USB flashdrive.
If the flashdrive is not empty or is incorrectly formatted, the recovery process may fail.
4.) Disconnect the AC power adapter and, in the case of a laptop, remove the battery as well.
5.) Insert the USB flashdrive into one of the USB ports on the computer. In most cases, the particular USB port that you use will not matter. That being said, some computers are finicky and will only accept a specific USB port for recovery.
6.) With all power sources disconnected from the computer, hold down the ‘Windows’ key and the ‘B’ key.
Do not release these keys until instructed to do so.
7.) Connect the AC power adapter to the computer.
8.) Press the ‘Power’ button on the computer.
9.) When the LED’s illuminate, you may release the two keys from step #6.
You may notice some of the LED’s illuminating differently from how they do in normal computer operation.
10.) After about 10 seconds, the computer should start reading the flashdrive. While searching for the file system, the computer may (should) beep for one second. The number of beeps can vary based on the capacity of the flashdrive as well as the number of files on it. If the BIOS file is not found, the computer will reboot and try again.
11.) If the file is found, the computer will load it. The particular computer used in this tutorial took 12 seconds to load the BIOS file, but times can vary based on the size of the BIOS image. No beeps will be heard during this process.
12.) After the computer is finished loading the BIOS file, it will start flashing the BIOS. During this process, the computer will beep every 2 seconds. The computer used in this tutorial took about 32 seconds. About 5 seconds after the flashing process has finished, the computer will shutdown. If the recovery process was successful, then the BIOS should work normally the next time you boot up the computer.
*NOTE: Not all devices will produce beeping sounds during the recovery process. The USB flashdrive LED should still blink on and off while the computer is loading the BIOS image. If the loading process is successful, the computer should shutdown within the next minute. For larger BIOS images, this may take longer.
