Hi
My notebook boots up intermittently, when it does not boot the white caps lock blinks 2 long blinks.
Research refers to BIOS, which I checked, it's up to date and passes all test. I have replaced the BIOS battery, but still the same 2 long blinks.
Any other ideas of what I can do?

@DarrylClifford, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The 2 long white blinks on the Caps Lock LED of your HP ENVY Notebook - 15-ae008ni typically indicate a BIOS corruption or failure. Since you've already updated the BIOS and replaced the CMOS battery, here are the next steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Perform a Hard Reset
This clears any residual electrical charge that might be causing the issue.
- Power off the notebook.
- Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the AC adapter (leave the battery out for now) and try powering on.
Restore BIOS Using Key Combination
HP notebooks often allow BIOS recovery from the hard drive.
- Turn off the notebook.
- Press and hold Windows + B keys, then press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds.
- Release the Power button but continue holding Windows + B until you hear beeps or see the screen light up.
- If successful, the BIOS recovery screen will appear.
Use a USB BIOS Recovery Drive
If the key combo doesn’t work, try creating a BIOS recovery USB:
- On another working PC, go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
- Enter your product: HP ENVY Notebook - 15-ae008ni.
- Download the latest BIOS update.
- Run the installer and choose Create Recovery USB.
- Insert the USB into your faulty notebook and repeat the Windows + B recovery process.
Reseat RAM and Storage
Sometimes, loose RAM or SSD/HDD connections can cause boot issues.
- Power off and unplug the notebook.
- Open the back panel and carefully remove and reinsert the RAM and storage drive.
- Try booting again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
