I used to be able to put my HP EliteBook 840 G5 to sleep by either closing the lid or selecting Sleep from the power menu. However, I no longer have access to the Sleep option after several Windows 10 updates installed in early February 2020.
The Sleep option is missing not only from the power menu but also from the advanced power options window.
When I run powercfg /a from command prompt it gives me the following output:
The following sleep states are available on this system:
Hibernate
Fast Startup
The following sleep states are not available on this system:
Standby (S1)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
The current power policy has disabled this standby state.
Standby (S2)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
The current power policy has disabled this standby state.
Standby (S3)
The current power policy has disabled this standby state.
Standby (S0 Low Power Idle)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
Hybrid Sleep
Standby (S3) is not available.
I have checked for the latest video card drivers and there are none available. The local group policy is set to allow Sleep.
What could be wrong?

Are you talking about this ? My 840 G5 with latest Windows updates:
You can always use Alt + F4 as a shortcut for sleep in Windows 10 or you can create Sleep shortcut and put it on Taskbar Please try

Yes, as I explained in my post, the Sleep option is gone both from the power menu and not even listed in the Advanced Power Settings window. It seems that the latest Windows 10 updates made some hardware in my notebook incompatible with the low-power Sleep mode.

Please try Control Panel, Power options, System settings then tick Sleep option:
