HP Envy X360 Convertible 15-Ed0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi Guys,

I just upgraded RAM in my notebook to 32GB (2*16 GB)

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Laptop Memory Model F4-3200C22D-32GRS

As per the manual, my laptop model supports 3200 MHZ. Page 1 of the Manual  But when I go to the task manager, it shows 2666MHZ. When I turned on the device for the first time after the RAM upgrade, I received a message that the CMOS was not in sync and asked me to reboot. I don't see any options in the BIOS settings. Any help to fix the RAM speed issue will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help.

Few last images do not say anything valuable. But can you see on your image called Capture 11

    Capture11.JPG

It clearly says it runs close to 2666MHz dual channels (1330.1 x 2).

What is your HP Envy 15-ed0xxx ? For example

             HP ENVY x360 Convert 15-ed0006nb

which shows it has  16 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (2 x 8 GB). You can install 3200MHz but it will always run at 2666MHz

What is your machine ? May I repeat: You can install higher speed RAM that does NOT mean RAM can work at that speed. Simple story: racing car can run 360km/h on racing track that does not mean it can run that speed on a 110km/h on regulated freeway.

Hope that makes sense. Again, you have to look the ACTUAL speed from the specs of your machine. What is it ? Or we can check its original RAM speed from Task Manager. The one you refer to is a CTO machine.

Hope this makes sense now.

Regards.

Why do you keep posting this screen, which only tell him what it is currently run at. From looking at his model from HP website, they clearly offered the faster ram as an option. When you upgrade the ram you have to go into the BIOS settings and set it for the faster ram.

There is no option in the BIOS to change RAM frequency. Also checked my processor specifications looks like it only supports 2666/ If you have any suggestion on how and where to change the settings in BIOS let me know. Appreciate your help

Sorry I don't. I only know from building my own computers about changing those settings in the BIOS. HP probably uses their own BIOS programs that don't allow you those options unless you initially ordered with the 3200 type ram.
