My Envy X360 just randomly shuts down for no apparent reason. The only way to turn it back on is by pressing and holding the on button. The shut downs occur mostly when the screen is bent fully back in tablet mode. Simply touching or moving the laptop is enough to shut it down. The laptop is only a few weeks old.
Yes - I have done all the Window updates
Yes - I have done all the HP updates
Yes - I have done a BIOS update
It happens when on battery power. It happens when plugged in.
It is completely random and occurs occasionally when in laptop mode but occurs very often when in tablet mode (making this mode completely useless).

Hi@Rascal3,
Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!
I see you are experiencing random shutdown issues with the HP ENVY X360 2-In-1 Laptop PC.
I have a few recommendations
- Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
- Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
- Go to System and Security and then click on Power Options. In the left pane, click on Choose what the power buttons do. Next, click the Change settings that are currently unavailable link. Under the Shutdown settings section, uncheck the Turn on fast startup (recommended) option to turn on the feature.
- You can do Reset PC Keep my files from windows and check if it works.
Try and check in Bios using the F10 key if it randomly shutdown in Bios. To enter Bios, click restart and keep tapping the F10 key and then turn on the PC at the same time to enter Bios screen.
If the issue persists in Bios then it is a hardware issue on the PC.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

It is a hardware issue. I found that pressing the casing next to the Caps Lock key would either cause the computer to shut down or would cause the screen to produce random colours and lines.
The computer has been replaced under warranty.
Disappointed that a computer bought only a few weeks ago has already failed.
