Envy
My HP Envy won’t turn on after the latest update. I unplugged, held power button for 15 seconds and still nothing will turn on. It was fine this morning before the update occurred.

Hi @Gypsynicurn,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Envy is experiencing a power issue following the latest update. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this problem.

Hard Reset:

  • Unplug the power cord from the laptop.
  • Disconnect any external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Plug the power cord back in and try to turn on the laptop.

Reset the BIOS:

  • Unplug the power cord.
  • Press and hold the Windows + B keys simultaneously, then press the power button for 2-3 seconds and release the power button while continuing to hold the Windows + B keys until you hear a beep or see a BIOS recovery screen.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the BIOS.

Battery Reset (if applicable):

  • If your HP Envy has a removable battery, remove it.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
  • Reinsert the battery, connect the power cord, and try to turn on the laptop.

Check Power Supply:

  • Ensure that the power adapter is working properly. If possible, try using a different power adapter that is known to be functional.
  • Check the power indicator light on the laptop (if available). If it’s not lighting up, there might be an issue with the power supply.

Attempt Safe Mode Boot:

  • If you can get the laptop to power on, try booting into Safe Mode to see if you can bypass any issues caused by the update.
  • Turn off the laptop and turn it back on. Immediately press the F8 key repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears.
  • Select Safe Mode and press Enter.

Perform a System Restore:

  • If you can access the Advanced Boot Options menu or the recovery environment, try performing a system restore to revert to a point before the update was installed.
  • From the Advanced Boot Options menu, select Repair Your Computer and follow the prompts to perform a system restore.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
