Hi,
Unfortunately, I have found a bug in the latest BIOS F24 (which has also been present in previous BIOS versions, video of it occuring in F23) where the 'Skin Temperature Sensor' freezes and stops reporting the correct temperature.
The laptop uses this temperature sensor to control the fan.
Sometimes it gets stuck at room temperature during sleep mode (in my example, at 25c) and usually the fan only comes on above 37c skin temp. This means the laptop fan stays off even when the CPU is at 100c.
Eventually there is a failsafe where the fan runs at 100% to cool the CPU down but this is not proper operation, and as soon as the CPU has cooled down again, the fan stay off until the CPU hits 100c again.
This happens after extended runtime (10hrs+ screen on time). I do not know how long it takes for the bug to occur but it does eventually happen. In my findings, the skin temperature sensor stopped working during sleep mode.
A restart does not fix the issue. Only powering down the machine (either through Shutdown or Hibernate) fixes the issue.
Powering down the machine and turning it on again allows the skin temperature sensor to work again, and the laptop fan to run normally. (usually).
Below is a video of me recording the bug on BIOS F23
And today on BIOS F24.

The bug got worse and here is an extended video of me trying to troubleshoot the problem.
This time, the bug persisted all the time until i disconnected the battery. Restarting the laptop did not fix it, nor did force shutting it down.
Most of the time, simply shutting the machine down and turning it on again fixes the issue, but this time it did not. Please can we fix the issue as with no removable battery this is not an easy thing to do.
Thanks,
Michael.
