HP Folio 9470m BIOS Admin Password

Hello Everyone 

I bought a 2nd hand Folio 9470m. Everything is fine but there is an admin password on BIOS. Plz help me to remove that password.

Admin and BIOS passwords are very different items.  The first controls access to Windows; the second to the BIOS.

We are not permitted to assist in resetting passwords due to HP Policy.

For Admin password resets, you have to contact your regional HP Customer Support location directly for assistance.

For BIOS or power-on password resets, because the password is encoded onto a chip on the motherboard, replacement of that motherboard is required. HP does not reset the BIOS password on the current motherboard.

If you are not prepared to spend the money to get HP to replace the motherboard, you would have to take the PC to a local repair facility to see if they can do it for you -- but we can not assist in that in any way.

It feels a bit unfair that you cannot reset BIOS password in HP Folio.. Like I might get 100 Bitcoins if I'll get in BIOS setup 🤔. What about that smc. bin file story? In the end I might repent my decision of owning HP machine 😞

The smc.bin "story" is that HP made a policy decision to stop distributing those files to the public.

As to the BIOS password, it is encrypted into the firmware of a chip on the system board, and since that is soldered to the board, it is not removable; thus, HP will only replace entire boards and that is very expensive.
