So I have this older laptop and I've had issues with it since back in the day when it updated  the bios.  It throws a fan code 908 or 90B? at startup and heats up super quick. I tried putting ubuntu onto it because windows just wouldn't get started in time to try anything. ubuntu will start but it locks up after about a minute or two. I know it's not a badass computer anymore but I'd like to get it running. Should I pull it apart and replace all the thermal paste? is there a way to roll back the bios? why is the sky blue??!! lol Any help would be most appreciated. thanks 😉

p.s. i checked the hard drive and its good. i pulled it out and hooked it up to my desktop. i have a really powerful fan under it everytime i try to use it but same ol same ol...

ok, so I have since made a bootable usb. i tried flashing through dos but no luck there. my pc doesnt have the diagnostic tool or anything on it. so i put tried putting one on the usb. well, i had to put two different OEFIs on it, the diagnostic tool and the bios updater, just to get to the diagnostic graphic interface. at this point i really thought i was there! btw, i have spent TONS of hours trying to get this to run. its not even that nice a computer anymore but i will not be defeated by something as simple as flashing a chip! well, i still wasnt there. i clicked on the bios manager/update button and every time i try to update or roll it back it doesnt see the bios image. so i pul out the usb, plug it into my other pc and check and sure enough, no image. no bin no sig nothing. so, i download the bios update again and see if it gives me and image. it doesnt. btw, this  ---------------------------------------------> https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52501-53000/sp52598.exe is total junk.  i did find a list of other drivers on this page though: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Can-t-find-proper-BIOS-Drivers/... so i tried a few of those and they have image a sig files! but it still isnt seeing them for some reason. is it the file path? to i need to restructure the files so itll see them??
