I recently changed my pentium t4500 mobile cpu to a core 2 duo t9900 mobile cpu and the caps lock is blinking with a pattern of 3 long blinks. Nothing else. I cant install bios update because it's a retired laptop. Any fixes? Also im running InsydeH2P bios utility rev F.15

The reason that the T9900 isn't working is because your notebook comes with a motherboard with the Intel GL40 chipset.

HP PartSurfer

616449-001
SPS-PCA SYSTEM BOARD UMA GL40 DDR2 HDMI

The Intel GL40 chipset can only support processors with an 800 MHz FSB and the T9900 has a 1066 MHz FSB.

If you want to upgrade the processor, the best one you can install in your notebook would be the T9500.

See cause i was to,d by another support person i could use the t9900. So i basically payed for nothing?!

Even if i woere to install the t9900, even a bios update cannot get it to work?

HP Recommended

There's nothing you can do to get that processor to work in your notebook.

The Intel GL40 chipset can't support it--with or without a BIOS update.

Whoever told you that the T9900 would work was wrong.

If your g62 notebook had a motherboard with the GM45 chipset, the T9900 would have worked fine.

I have the 1484 motherboard im assuming it dosent support the t9900. Thanks for the ckarification.

You're very welcome.

Look for a T9500 or T9300 on eBay, and either of those will work.

HP Recommended

Okay. I will keep that in mind.

Sorry to reply this far past when i published the article, but is there a way to get a motherboard with the needed chipset to run the t9900? If so i would rather do that.
