Hello!  I know this posts is a couple of years old but I just encountered this problem a few days ago (HP Laptop with blank screen and only the cursor showing).  Anyway, I hope there's an update to your solution?  I can't seem to find a link where I can download the ISO for Windows 7.  I searched at Microsoft but the product key that came with my device wouldn't allow me to download the ISO.  It says I should contact the manufacturer of my device.  By the way, the blank screen problem doesn't happen all the time.  I'd say 5 times out of 7.  I don't know if this helps, but I can still access the HP Tools Drive in my laptop.  Thanks in advance!
