Hi @Steve007Bond,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I reviewed the post about boot issues with blinking  Caps lock light on your PC. I’ll be more than happy to assist you here.

Let's start off by performing a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data. Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, a blank display, software freezing, keyboard stops responding, or other external devices locking up.

It certainly looks like a hardware issue with the unit and it may need to be serviced.

However, for now,

Please try to restore the bios by performing these steps from here http://hp.care/2rZhONT and check if it gets fixed. Try both the methods mentioned here.

If the first method does not work, please download the bios from another computer (the downloaded bios should be relevant for this computer) to a flash drive and try to update it.

  • Recovering the notebook BIOS using a key press combination
  • Recovering the notebook BIOS using an external storage device

Run the System Diagnostics tests from F2 (Please capture the failure ID for further assistance).

If the test fails, this clearly indicates a hardware issue with the PC. I would recommend you contact our HP phone support for further assistance.

For more assistance, please follow all the steps suggested in the support document for - HP Notebook PCs - Computer Does Not Start and Emits an LED or Beep Code

I would recommend you try to reseat the Memory modules and check if that helps. If nothing works, I would suggest here is to contact our HP phone support to get the unit serviced.

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number, Case number and phone number appear.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of repair services for you.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead.
