My laptop will not turn on. When it does, the screen stays black but theres a very bright white flash that comes across the screen every 5 seconds. My battery light stays a solid white, no blinking. My caps lock does not blink either. It just will not turn on and the bright flash, i have no idea what it is?? PLEASE HELP!

Hi @Packersgirl,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery (if it's removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge residual power.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter and battery, then try to turn on the laptop.

Check External Devices:

  • Disconnect any external devices such as USB drives, external monitors, or peripherals. Sometimes external devices can cause startup issues.

Examine for Physical Damage:

  • Inspect the laptop for any signs of physical damage which might be causing display issues.

Connect to External Monitor:

  • If possible, connect your laptop to an external monitor to see if the display issue persists. This could help determine if it’s a problem with the internal display.

Battery and Power Adapter:

  • Ensure that your battery and power adapter are functioning properly. A faulty power adapter might not charge your laptop correctly, leading to startup issues.

I hope this helps.
