All, I have a 15-dp0003na notebook purchased at the end of March that has become completely unusable. At first it slowed, then even slower to the point where we had to do a reset. That did nothing, and after various attempts culminating in a complete clean install of windows 10 from a USB recovery stick. That process took 8 hours, and it took a few attempts to get to the point of completion
Now, booting takes ten minutes minimum, and occasionally hangs completely.
I have done the diagnostic tests (Pressed ESC during start, and selected the diagnostic menu item), and done a hardware check. It is telling me everything is fine and that there is no issue.
As I am now working in Hungary I can't return the laptop, (purchased via Amazon UK in the UK) but I need it working for my work. I really need help before I turn it into a frisbee!
Symptoms include - (just in Windows, no apps or programs running other than what Windows decides to run)
typing in the start menu box, then waiting 15 seconds for the text to appear.
Pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL and waiting up to a minute before task manager screen appears
Startup takes anything between four minutes to an hour
I need this laptop working so please give me some help!
Cheers
Les

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)
To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.
Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.
- To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon
.
- Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
- Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
- Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
- Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
- Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Thanks for this.
I had to run this a few times, it gradually improved each time, so thanks for this. It is now reasonable, with keypresses being registered in real time, although I have to say it still is a bit sluggish compared to an older less well specified laptop my wife has running Win 10. I ran all the diagnostics and it says hat there is / was nothing wrong with the hardware, so no idea what happened.
Anyway, I now have a laptop that works, but I need to restore MS office - do I just download it and it will automatically enter the product key the laptop came with?
Also, and most worrying, the HP product assistant came up with a message saying that my warranty expired on the 21st April 2020 - the purchase date of the laptop was the 27th March 2020. Am I reading it right that you only supply just over three weeks of warranty?
Cheers

@lesthegringo I suggest you use this website to check the warranty: click here,
Also, to ensure accurate test results, I suggest you install the latest version of the HP Hardware diagnostics (UEFI) on your device using this link: Click here for details
Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
Click Extensive Test.
Click Run once, or Loop until error.
While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.
If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.
