Greetings -

My HP Mini 210-1150NR netbook boots straight into the setup utility, beeps, and hangs in setup.  It won't let exit.  You must turn it off and then on.

Amazingly, I was finally able to luck out and boot all the way up today, so I reset the computer back to factory.  Same thing is happening.

Can anyone help please?  Thank you!

Hi there @Cat_B

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great site to get answers and ask questions. I understand that your HP Mini 210-1150NR Notebook PC is booting in the BIOS but is not always letting you boot past the BIOS. You had stated that you were able to boot all the way into the Operating System. Which Windows Operating Systems are you running?

Have you tried a hard reset?

Have you tried to Test for Hardware Failures?

Did you happen to receive any error messages or error codes?

Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues.

If you are Operating Windows 8, 8.1 or 10, please follow these steps:

  1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  2. Turn on the computer and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly, about once every second.
  3. The HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) home page displays.
  4. Click on System Tests
  5. Click Extensive Test, and then Run once, or Loop until error.
  6. The test can take 2 or more hours to complete. The test result and time remaining are shown on the screen.
  7. If a component fails a test, write down the information.

If you are Operating Windows 7, please follow this document called Testing for Hardware Failures. There are different BIOS Setup Utility screen's for Windows 7. Depending on the screen that you receive the steps could be different. There are screenshot's available in the document to help you.

Please try these steps and then re-post with the results of the troubleshooting, answer's to questions above, the Operating System  you are using and if you had received any error codes or messages what they were.

Hope this helps!

Dear EmeraldAvenger - I was cleaning out old emails and saw the HP Forum email notification.  The mini never did work again, but I don't see where I ever thanked you for your thorough, extremely helpful reply.  I really appreciate it, and thank you very much.
