I bought this laptop Sep 2017. It was working great initially. But a week later, I believe after an update, it became slow. Since then it is taking more than 10 minutes to start up.
I have tried enabling and disabling a combination of startup applications. Uninstalling the updates doesn't work either.
It has i5-7th gen processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD.

Paul, do you happen to know what exactly does this Image Enhancement for System Logon does? I can't anyone at HP to explain it to me and I can't find anything online that explains it. I would just like to explain it to our IT dept.

I bought my HP laptop 4 days ago. It was fine initially but today it won't start the screen.
With an external monitor connected it is fine (through the monitor) but the screen on the laptop itself isn't working.
I bought it for a very specific task and now I'm two days behind thanks to this, I couldn't be more angry.
any suggestions? that work?
