Hi there,
i really loved my omen laptop, so i update last week on the latest bios version (f.53)
But then my device just dead, could not boot anymore.
In bios you can just not chose the bootmedia.
I try to change the format from the hdd and ssd from mbr to gpt and back again.
Today i try to install ubuntu and mx but still the same result... no bootable device.
There must be a way how i downgrade my laptop to a functioning bios version.
Is there maybe some else , with the same problem.

Hi @Really78
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
It sounds like you're facing a frustrating issue with your HP Omen laptop after updating the BIOS. Here’s how you can try to resolve the problem:
1. Perform a Hard Reset
- Power Off: Completely shut down the laptop.
- Disconnect Power: Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
- Drain Residual Power: Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect Power: Reinstall the battery, plug in the charger, and try to power on the laptop.
2. Access BIOS
- Restart the laptop and immediately press Esc or F10 repeatedly to access the BIOS.
- Check the boot options and ensure that your HDD/SSD is recognized. If not, there may be a hardware issue.
3. Reset BIOS to Defaults
- In the BIOS menu, look for an option to restore defaults or factory settings.
- Save the changes and exit.
4. Downgrade BIOS
If you want to downgrade the BIOS, you can usually do this using a USB drive:
Download Previous BIOS Version:
- Go to the HP support website and search for your laptop model.
- Find the previous BIOS version (F.52 or earlier) in the BIOS section.
Create a Bootable USB Drive:
- Format a USB drive to FAT32.
- Download and extract the BIOS update file onto the USB drive.
Initiate BIOS Recovery:
- Insert the USB drive into the laptop.
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press and hold the Windows + B keys, then press the power button. Continue holding the keys until the BIOS recovery screen appears.
Follow On-Screen Instructions:
- Follow the prompts to select the BIOS file on the USB drive and proceed with the downgrade.
5. Check Hardware Connections
- If the laptop still doesn’t recognize the HDD/SSD, check internal connections. Reseat the drives if you're comfortable doing so.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
