OMEN by HP Transcend 16 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-u0000 (765S3AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Bought this Notebook the other day and after a quick pause i came back to my notebook being stuck in a blackscreen und the fans spinning at full speed. I was just watching youtube before i left. I pressed the start button for 5 seconds to turn it off and tried to charge it with the charger only to find the led of the charging port not turning on anymore. I then tried to connect my powerbank to one oft the thunderbolt 4 ports and see it charging up. After i booted i was greeted with a notification saying something like the CMOS checksum was wrong. After i booted i was greeted by my desktop but after opening spotify i crashed immediately. I tried booting a few more times but it doesnt matter what I started the notebook crashed everytime.
In conclusion it won't charge only through TB4 and it crashes as soon as I open any apps and sometimes even when I was just on the desktop.
To be honest i paid too much for this to happen please help me.

Hi @dennis1911,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Omen Transcend 16 is experiencing multiple issues, including failure to charge properly and frequent crashes. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve these issues.

Check the Charger and Charging Port:

  • Ensure that the charger is properly plugged into both the laptop and the power outlet.
  • Inspect the charging port on the laptop for any physical damage or debris that could be obstructing the connection.
  • Try using a different power outlet to rule out issues with the current outlet.

Reset the CMOS:

  • The CMOS checksum error suggests there might be a problem with the BIOS settings or the CMOS battery.
  • To reset the CMOS, you can usually find a small pinhole on the laptop (often near the bottom or under a panel). Use a paperclip or a similar tool to press and hold the reset button for 10-15 seconds.

Update BIOS and Drivers:

  • Visit our HP official website and download the latest BIOS update and drivers for your laptop model.
  • Install these updates carefully following the manufacturer's instructions, as updates can sometimes resolve compatibility issues and improve system stability.

Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Most laptops come with built-in diagnostics tools that can check for hardware issues.
  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing F2, F10, or Del during startup). Look for diagnostics options or check the user manual for guidance.
  • Run a comprehensive diagnostic test to identify any hardware failures, particularly related to the charging circuit or memory.

Check for Overheating:

  • Overheating can cause system instability and crashes. Ensure that the laptop vents are clear of dust and debris.
  • Use a cooling pad if necessary to help keep the laptop temperature down, especially during intensive tasks.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for your suggestions @AIden4 but after talking to HP Support and talking about the product they told me to just send it back and to call it a day. I tried a couple of things myself and doing everything the Chatbot asking me to do but none of it worked. Even calling HP Support was not very helpful. He told me this failure was known but he doesnt know how to fix it.
I somehow tried everything you suggested beforehand and there was no fix to the problem. Only resetting Windows seemed to work but to be honest if resetting Windows every 2 weeks is the only trick, there is no way of me keeping that notebook so sadly all hp devices are now off the buy list. However I was very happy with the performance and battery especially for that price.
Thanks for your help but sadly it was a little too late for me.
Maybe ill give HP another chance in a few years but for now i can't recommend any Omen Notebooks. Also the fact that I cant install any Linux for a dual boot is a big downside aswell.
Best regards!
