Hi @slokam,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
Disabling Tablet mode on your HP OmniBook Ultra Flip Laptop is straightforward. Here’s how you can do it:
Steps to Disable Tablet Mode:
Access Windows Settings:
- Press Win + I to open the Settings menu.
- Alternatively, click the Start Menu and select Settings (gear icon).
Navigate to Tablet Mode Settings:
- In the Settings menu, go to System > Tablet (or Tablet mode depending on your Windows version).
Set Preferences for Tablet Mode:
- Under the When I use this device as a tablet section:
- Select Don’t switch to tablet mode to prevent automatic activation.
- Under the Tablet mode section:
- Choose Off if available or adjust the settings to ensure the laptop stays in desktop mode.
Disable Auto-Switch to Tablet Mode:
- If the laptop keeps switching to Tablet mode when flipped, check the When I sign in option in the Tablet settings.
- Select Use desktop mode to ensure it always defaults to the standard laptop interface.
Check Rotation Lock:
- Press Win + A to open the Action Center.
- Ensure Rotation lock is turned On if the screen orientation changes when the device flips.
Restart for Changes to Take Effect:
- Restart your laptop to ensure the new settings are applied.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @slokam,
I understand how frustrating it can be to not find an easy way to disable a feature like Tablet Mode in Windows 11 Home. While Windows 11 no longer has a dedicated "Tablet Mode" like Windows 10 did, there are workarounds to adjust settings and behavior to mimic disabling it. Let’s explore some options that could help:
Disable Automatic Tablet Mode Features:
- Go to Settings > System > Display > Display Orientation.
- Set the orientation to Landscape and ensure auto-rotation is turned off.
Adjust Taskbar Behavior:
- Go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar.
- Scroll down to Taskbar behaviors and ensure that "Automatically hide the taskbar" is unchecked, so it behaves more like a desktop.
Disable Touchscreen Input (if applicable):
- Open Device Manager by pressing Windows Key + X and selecting it.
- Find Human Interface Devices and right-click HID-compliant touch screen.
- Select Disable device (you can re-enable it later if needed).
Force Desktop Layout:
- Right-click the desktop and choose Display Settings.
- Under Scale and Layout, ensure that "Change the size of text, apps, and other items" is set to a comfortable size like 100% or 125%.
- Make sure resolution is set to the recommended value.
Turn Off Tablet-Specific Gestures:
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad (or Touch if your device has it).
- Disable unnecessary gestures like "Three-finger gestures" or "Four-finger gestures."
If these steps don’t address your needs fully, I am afraid there is any other option.

Hi @Elohi_NR
Apologies for the delayed response. I’ve tried all these options, but unfortunately, none of them worked. It’s incredibly frustrating that Windows 11 doesn’t provide an option to disable Tablet mode. 😞
Thanks
