HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec1216ng

Hello, this is Donstodge,

i have a Pavilion 15-ec1216ng and may need an older version of the BIOS itlself. The current version is F.35.

On the HP support page i found F.35A, put i on a USB stick and use Win + B to update with the Recovery Mode. The new BIOS was written, but it shows F.35 again when i enter the BIOS to confirm the update. Did it work?

Didn't remember the previous version but my laptop is now in a boot loop. I can enter BIOS and System Diagnostics perfectly. The laptop passed all the HP tests, but when i boot from the SSD or an win 11/10 Stick, the laptop turned off after a few seconds. I heard of a bug in one of the newer BIOS versions. I want wo try an older version, does HP archive older versions? F.31 F.29?

Hi:

Every HP notebook BIOS ends in Revision A.

F.35 Revision A is F.35

If you are having issues with the F.35 BIOS version, you can find the available previous BIOS versions by clicking to expand the Revision History section on the F.35 BIOS update page at the link below:

The release notes come first, and the actual BIOS file downloads appear afterward.

Hello Paul, thank you very much. When i use f9 to start from an efi file, i chose the file BiosMgmt.efi in the folder HP. To update to an older version didn't work. It failed right after i clicked on Apply Update Now.

I now used UEFI Shell 64 from pbatard, because windows based file like Hiren's Boot Disc crashed like every windows based thing. I then downloaded the original AMI Bios Update Utility called Aptio V (afuefi64) and put for example the BIOS Version F.29 (087B0.bin) onto an usb stick. The commands when booting from the shell efi was fs1:  -> cd afuefi64 -> afuefi64.efi 087B0.bin /p /b /n /k /x . Error 46 shows up. It means that the bios flash is secured by hp's internal structure which not allowed a downgrade. I have two options now, to wait for a newer version which i can install via the hp tool, or to find someone who can make a hardware update/downgrade.

I sucessfully dongraded to F.34 with the hp utility and Win + B on startup. The crash while booting is already there.

Some security features shuts everything off. I can try flashing the BIOS chip in an external device but i dont have the things to do that.
